About Us

ExploraBox was created and developed by me, Amy West, a former professional actor and qualified primary school teacher. It was borne out of a love for literature and language, and a passion for helping children learn. Everything I do is about inspiring children, helping them to communicate effectively and enjoyably, and to experience the sheer joy of words – their own and those from other people.

ExploraBox’s aims are:

  • To inspire a love of reading and language

  • To develop children’s vocabulary and communication skills

  • To enable children to experience stories in an approachable, memorable way

Welcome to ExploraBox

ExploraBox is all about inspiring children to love language, through interactive, learning-focused workshops and sessions.  I help children develop their understanding and confidence by engaging them in exciting activities based around stories and plays.

ExploraBox is based in Northamptonshire, and I work in schools and libraries all across the country.

STORY sessions develop children’s vocabulary and communication skills through using a quality picture book to inspire a ‘learning adventure’ of fun, confidence-building activities, linked with a topic.

SHAKESPEARE workshops enable primary-aged children of all ages to explore the work of this legendary writer, and to realise his plays are funny, gory, clever and most of all – accessible.

ANCIENT GREECE/ROMAN/EGYPT workshops explore myths, or Greek Theatre, or historic events such as Pompeii or the discovery of Tutenkhamen's tomb, with loads of props and resources making them really interactive and memorable .

FIRE OF LONDON workshops explore facts and develop language through a story.

FLORENCE NIGHTINGALE workshops explore her life, and the impact she had on the world.

SEASIDE HOLIDAYS THROUGH THE AGES explores how things are the same and have changed.
